Bowmont Park

Working with City of Calgary Parks, Natural Areas, and Stakeholders, Tanya designed a palette of elevated decks, markers, and signage to be repeated throughout the 150 acres of the park, honoring the natural environment, agricultural, and settlement histories. Fescue grass, post and rail fencing, and historic bridge truss are all reflected in the design elements.
Heavy pedestrian traffic areas at gateways and desire lines along the eroding escarpment inspired the elevated decks, accentuating the overlook experience that people were naturally seeking, while creating a defined path of travel that helps minimize pedestrian impact in sensitive areas.
